General description
EPHB6 (ephrin receptor B6) belongs to the largest receptor tyrosine kinase family called EPHB, and the members act as receptors for cell surface ephrin (eph) proteins. This protein is expressed on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC), lymphocytes and T-cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
EPHB6 (ephrin receptor B6) is a member of EPHB receptor family, the members of which play a role in self-renewal of intestinal epithelium, development of uro-rectal tract, insulin secretion from pancreatic β cells, development, maintenance and repair of bone, regulation of hypoxia-induced red blood cell synthesis, glomerular filtration, clotting and homeostasis of vestibular endolymph fluid in the inner ear. EPHB6 receptor acts in co-ordination with sex hormones such as testosterone to control the contractility of vascular smooth muscle cells, and thus regulates the blood pressure.
Member of Eph receptor tyrosine kinase family shown to bind ephrin-B1 and ephrin-B2; involved in pattern formation and morphogenesis.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to bind recombinant mouse ephrin-B2/Fc in an ELISA assay.
Other Notes
Extracellular domain of mouse EphB6 (amino acids 1-587) fused to the C-terminal 6X histidine-tagged Fc region of human IgG1 via a polypeptide linker.

Eph kinases constitute the largest receptor tyrosine kinase family, and their ligands, ephrins (Efns), are also cell surface molecules. Our study is the first to assess the role of Ephb6 in blood pressure (BP) regulation. We observed that EphB6 and
