Gene Information
human ... CCL28(56477)
General description
CCL28 (chemokine ligand 28) is a CC chemokine, which is also known as mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine (MEC). It acts as a ligand for CCR10 and CCR3, and is expressed by specific mucosal tissues such as trachea, colon and exocrine glands. It has a constitutive expression in human salivary glands, and is present in high levels in human saliva and milk. Its C-terminal shares high sequence similarity with histatin-5, which is a candidacidal human saliva peptide rich in histidine.
Application
Anti-CCL28 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 28 (CCL28) acts as a novel growth factor that directly stimulates proliferation of primitive hematopoietic cells from different ontogenetic origins. It enhances the functional progenitor cell by stimulating cell cycling and induces gene expression changes associated with survival. CCL28 may contribute to the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD) and may act as an objective prognostic marker for disease severity. It may be useful for the diagnosis of cancer and may play a role in regulating mammary carcinogenesis. CCL28 gene absence may also contribute to the host′s immune response to tumors.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

CCL28 (MEC) binds to CCR3 and CCR10 and recruits IgA-secreting plasma cells (IgA-ASC) in the mucosal lamina propria (MLP). Mucosal HIV-specific IgA are detected in HIV-infection and exposure. The CCL28 circuit was analyzed in HIV-infected and-exposed individuals and in HIV-unexposed

Mucosa-associated epithelial chemokine (MEC; CCL28) is considered to be pivotal in mediating the migration of CC chemokine receptor 3- and 10- (CCR3- and CCR10)-expressing, skin-homing, memory, cutaneous lymphocyte-associated antigen-positive (CLA(+)) T cells. CCL28 is selectively and continuously expressed by epidermal

CCL28 is a CC chemokine signaling via CCR10 and CCR3 that is selectively expressed in certain mucosal tissues such as exocrine glands, trachea, and colon. Notably, these tissues commonly secrete low-salt fluids. RT-PCR analysis demonstrated that salivary glands expressed CCL28
