生化/生理作用
Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) is a protein encoded by the VEGFA gene in humans and is mapped to human chromosome 6p12-p21. It is a pluripotent cytokine and angiogenic growth factor that plays an important role in embryonic development and tumor progression. VEGF is secreted from endothelial cells and pericytes in response to hypoxia. It induces angiogenesis and microvascular hyperpermeability. The plasma VEGF levels are significantly associated with vasculitic neuropathy. VEGF is increased by brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and enhances angiogenesis through a signal transduction pathway.
