General description

HuB gene, also known as embryonic lethal abnormal vision-like 2 (ELAVL2), encodes for a neuron-specific protein ELAVL2/HuB that belongs to the ELAVL family. HuB protein is made of three RNA recognition motifs, N-terminus, and a linker region. The HuB gene is located on the human chromosome at 9p21.3.

Immunogen

a synthetic peptide corresponding to human HuB (amino acids 23-38) conjugated to BSA.

Application

Anti-HuB antibody produced in rabbit has been used in:
  • immunohistochemistry
  • immunofluorescent staining
  • immunoblotting

Biochem/physiol Actions

Embryonic lethal abnormal vision-like 2 (ELAVL2)/HuB protein functions as a translational repressor. The HuB gene is considered a susceptibility gene for schizophrenia.
