HSPA12A (heat shock 70kDa protein 12A), along with HSPA12B, forms a subfamily of Hsp70 protein family. It is expressed in brain, heart, kidney and muscle.

HSPA12A (heat shock 70kDa protein 12A) is highly expressed in the frontal and occipital regions of brain cortex. However, it is down-regulated in prefrontal cortex of schizophrenic subjects. Its expression is elevated in atherosclerotic lesions, and it might play a role in the susceptibility to atherosclerosis.
