AKs (adenylate kinases) are phosphotransferases responsible for inter-conversion of adenine nucleotides. They maintain cellular energy homoeostasis. AK8 has strong affinity for AMP (adenosine monophosphate) and is highly efficient in AMP phosphorylation.
