Gene Information

human ... MMP19(4327)

General description

Matrix metalloproteinase-19 (MMP19) is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase. It contains a signal sequence, a propeptide domain, a catalytic domain and a carboxy-terminal fragment. The gene encoding this protein is located on human chromosome 12q14.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the propeptide region of human matrix metalloproteinase-19 (RASI).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Matrix metalloproteinase-19 (MMP-19) may have a role in arthritis and takes part in the advancement of lung cancer.
Reacts with reduced and non-reduced MMP-19. Recognizes the pro-form of MMP-19. Binds the propeptide region, which is removed during activation. Can be used to distinguish between the pro-form and active forms of MMP-19.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4 containing 50% glycerol and 15 mM sodium azide.

Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-19 and MMP-20 (enamelysin) are two recently discovered members of the MMP family. These enzymes are involved in the degradation of the various components of the extracellular matrix (ECM) during development, haemostasis and pathological conditions. Whereas MMP-19 mRNA
