General description
Neuronal calcium sensor 1 (NCS-1) is a Ca2+ signaling protein.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide correspopnding to amino acid residues 161-190 of rat NCS-1. This sequence is completely conserved in mouse, rat, chicken, and human NCS-1. There is a single amino acid substitution in this region for Xenopus NCS-1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Neuronal calcium sensor 1 (NCS-1) responds to changes in Ca2+ levels and has a crucial function in memory and learning. NCS-1 is involved in many regulatory pathways in neurons, and associates with kinases and G-protein coupled receptors.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 1 mg/ml bovine serum albumin and 0.05% sodium azide.

Neuronal calcium sensor-1 (NCS-1) is the primordial member of the neuronal calcium sensor family of EF-hand Ca(2+)-binding proteins. It interacts with both the G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) dopamine D2 receptor (D2R), regulating its internalization and surface expression, and the cognate kinases

Physical activity has been proposed as a behavioral intervention that improves learning and memory; nevertheless, the mechanisms underlying these health benefits are still not well understood. Neuronal Calcium Sensor-1 (NCS-1) is a member of a superfamily of proteins that respond

Following trauma of the adult brain or spinal cord the injured axons of central neurons fail to regenerate or if intact display only limited anatomical plasticity through sprouting. Adult cortical neurons forming the corticospinal tract (CST) normally have low levels
