Application

Suitable for use as a capillary zone electrophoresis calibration standard in uncoated capillaries. Using capillary zone electrophoresis, peptides migrate in free solution through a coated or uncoated fused silica capillary with an applied electric field. Proteins are separated by their charge-to-mass ratio. Narrow diameter capillaries (less than 100 μm) allow heat to dissipate efficiently so that high electric fields can be applied to the capillary, leading to high separation efficiencies of peptides. Using peptide standards for determining performance of the capillary is recommended before applying unknown samples. Sigma′s peptide standards have been selected to produce nine well-defined peaks using peptide separation buffer (P2188).

Preparation Note

Reconstitute with 50 μl of peptide separation buffer and 450 μl of deionized water.

Other Notes

Contains approx. 25 μg of each of nine peptides: Bradykinin, Bradykinin fragment 1-5, Substance P, [Arg8]-vasopressin, Luteinizing hormone releasing hormone, Bombesin, Leucine enkephalin, Methionine enkephalin, Oxytocin.
