WDR77 is a component of the 20S PRMT5 (MIM 604045)-containing methyltransferase complex, which modifies specific arginines to dimethylarginines in several spliceosomal Sm proteins (see MIM 601061). WD repeat domain 77 (WDR77) associates with protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) in a methylosome complex and stimulates its histone methyltransferase activity. It also binds to androgen receptors and modulates its target genes in prostate epithelial cells and prostate cancer.
