Gene Information
human ... EEPD1(80820)
General description
KIAA1706 is also known as endonuclease-exonuclease-phosphatase family domain containing 1 (EEPD1). The gene is located on human chromosome 7p14.2. This gene contains two helix−hairpin−helix motifs at the N-terminal and an exonuclease/endonuclease/phosphatase domain at the C-terminal end. The protein is localized in the plasma membrane with a myristoylation site in its N terminus.
Immunogen
KIAA1706 (AAH65518.1, 1 a.a. ~ 569 a.a) full-length human protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Endonuclease-exonuclease-phosphatase family domain containing 1 (EEPD1), also known as KIAA1706, acts as a gatekeeper for the repair of stressed replication forks. It maintains the integrity of cell genome by developing safe homologous recombination fork repair pathway. Deficiency of this protein is associated with severe chromosomal abnormalities. The protein acts as a LXR-target gene, which maintains cholesterol efflux and activity of ATP-binding cassette transporter (ABCA1).
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4
