General description
The PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) belongs to the Piwi subfamily.gene is mapped to human chromosome 12q24.33. It is expressed in the cytosol of spermatocytes and spermatids. PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) is also an Argonaute protein family member.
Application
Anti-PIWIL1 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting and immunohistochemistry.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Anti-PIWIL1 recognizes human and mouse PIWIL1.
The PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) mediates spermatogenesis. Its aberrant expression favors tumor progression inadenocarcinoma. PIWI-like protein 1 (PIWIL1) plays a key role in embryogenesis, differentiation, stem cell proliferation, growth, and development. High levels of PIWIL1 expression is implicated in the colorectal cancer invasion.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Preparation Note
Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze at –20 °C in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
