CPLA2/PLA2G4A (phospholipase A2, group IVA(cytosolic, calcium-dependent)) is located on human chromosome 1q31.1. cPLA2α is an 85 kDa protein made of 749 amino acids. It is a member of the the α-β hydrolase family. CPLA2 has an N-terminal C2 domain (Ca2+ - dependent, phospholipid binding) and two catalytic domains (α/β hydrolase). This protein is located in the cytoplasm.
Application
Anti-Phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Anti-Phospholipase A2 (cPLA2) (N-terminal), specifically recognizes human cPLA2.
CPLA2/PLA2G4A (phospholipase A2, group IVA(cytosolic, calcium-dependent)) helps to hydrolyze phospholipids at the sn-2-acyl ester bond to generate free fatty acid and lysophospholipid second messengers. It is associated with several diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, asthma and arthritis.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide
Preparation Note
Store at −20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Hyperactivation of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) by p25, contributes to neuroinflammation causing neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease. However, the mechanism by which Cdk5 induces neuroinflammation in the PD brain is largely unexplored. Here, we show that Cdk5
