General description
The conserved oligomeric Golgi complex 3 (COG3) protein is a member of the conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex. COG complex is an evolutionarily conserved multi-subunit protein complex. COG complex contains eight distinct subunits organized in two heterotrimeric groups, COG2-COG3-COG4 and COG5-COG6-COG7, which are linked by the dimeric group formed by COG1 and COG8. The COG3 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 13q14.13.
Immunogen
a peptide corresponding to an internal region of human COG3, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse, rat, monkey and bovine COG3.
Application
Anti-COG3 antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Anti-COG3 recognizes human, mouse and rat COG3.
Conserved oligomeric Golgi complex 3 (COG3) protein is involved in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-Golgi membrane trafficking. COG3 protein depletion hinders vesicle-mediated Golgi retrograde trafficking in HeLa cells and results in the accumulation of COG complex-dependent vesicles in the cell cytoplasm.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Preparation Note
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
