General description

Sex determining region Y (SRY)-box 11 (SOX11) protein is a member of the SRY-related high mobility group (HMG)-box (SOX) family of transcription factors. This protein is expressed in adult immature neurons but is normally not expressed in any other adult tissue. SOX11 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 2p25.2.

Immunogen

peptide corresponding to an internal region of human SOX11, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in monkey and pig and differs by 3 amino acids in mouse and rat.

Application

Anti-SOX11 antibody produced in rabbit may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Anti-SOX11 recognizes human SOX11.
Sex determining region Y (SRY)-box 11 (SOX11) is involved in the regulation of tissue remodeling during embryonic development of the central nervous system and the determination of cell fate. This protein plays a role in tumorigenesis. SOX11 protein acts as a biomarker in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and Burkitt lymphomas (BL). Upregulation of the SOX11 gene is associated with ovarian cancer, medulloblastomas, gliomas and brain tumor.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

For continuous use, store at 2-8°C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
