General description
CDK6 (cyclin dependent kinase 6) is a serine/threonine kinase. It is a human PLSTIRE gene product that is located on chromosome 7q21.
Probably involved in the control of the cell cycle. Interacts with D-type G1 cyclins.
Immunogen
Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of tyrosine 24 (G-A-Y(p)-G-K), according to the protein CDK6.
Biochem/physiol Actions
CDK6 (cyclin dependent kinase 6) participates in the regulation of cell‐cycle, hence it acts as a target for cancer therapy. Upregulation of CDK6 has been observed in various malignancies like leukemia and lymphomas. In hematopoietic stem cells, CDK6 modulates the exit of quiescence.
