General description
Anti-OPN3 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total OPN3 protein.
Opsin 3 (OPN3) is also termed as encephalopsin or panopsin. It is a member of the encephalopsin/tmt-opsin subfamily. It is expressed in brain, liver, placenta, heart and pancreatic tissues. The OPN3 gene is located on human chromosome 1q43.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Opsin3 controls the apoptotic pathway and makes hepatocellular carcinoma cells fragile to 5-fluorouracil treatment. OPN3 plays an important role in oncogenesis and drug resistance. It also plays crucial roles in various physiological and pathological processes.
