General description

αα-微管蛋白，又称微管蛋白α 4a（TUBA4A），位于人类染色体2q35。该基因编码含有448个氨基酸的α-微管蛋白家族成员。TUBA4A属于微管蛋白的亚家族，微管蛋白是微管的主要合成嵌段。α-亚基的分子量为50,000。

Biochem/physiol Actions

乙酰化微管蛋白与多种生物体中的轴丝组装相关。乙酰化微管蛋白可能在微管结构和功能的分化中具有关键作用。α-微管蛋白的翻译后修饰，即通过特定的乙酰化酶向Lys40可逆地添加乙酰基，产生乙酰化微管蛋白。

该抗体可识别位于乙酰化Lys-40的四个残基内的衣藻(Chlamydomonas)轴丝α-微管蛋白α3亚型上的表位。在大多数α-微管蛋白中发现了一段序列与使用该抗体在衣藻中检测到的序列非常相似，但相应区域在来自鸡、果蝇（Drosophila）和酵母的一些α-微管蛋白亚型中明显不同。该抗体已被用于检测多种生物中的乙酰化α-微管蛋白。偶尔，抗体识别的表位可能不存在或者被掩盖，例如在更格卢鼠上皮样细胞PtK₂中。
