General description
Bromothymol blue is a pH indicator which is sparingly soluble in water, benzene but is soluble in ethanol. It is insoluble in petroleum ether. It has its major uses in Sol-gel matrix, fuel cells, optical sensors, combustion gas detection system. It is considered as a toxic reagent.
Application
Bromothymol blue may be used to adjust pH between 7 and 8 of the sample during a gas chromatographic analysis to estimate urinary oxalate.

A simple, rapid, accurate, precise and sensitive colorimetric method for the determination of finasteride in tablets is described. The proposed methods are based on the formation of ion-pair complexes between the examined drug with bromophenol blue (BPB), bromocresol green (BCG)

We describe a simple, specific gas-chromatographic method for urinary oxalate. Its specificity was evaluated by precipitating the oxalate as its calcium salt from urine, followed by methylation of the oxalate with boron trifluoride/methanol and subsequent gas-chromatographic separation and quantitation of

Cryptococcus neoformans and Cryptococcus gattii are closely related pathogenic fungi. Cryptococcus neoformans is ecologically widespread and affects primarily immunocompromised patients, while C. gattii is traditionally found in tropical climates and has been reported to cause disease in immunocompetent patients. l-Canavanine
