General description

Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), a most commonly utilized oxygenate, is used as an octane booster in gasoline formulations.

Application

MTBE has been used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in Catalonian groundwater by purge-and-trap gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (P&T-GC/MS) and in aqueous samples by solid phase microextraction (SPME) combined with GC-MS. It may be used as a reference standard for the analysis of the analyte in urban air samples by GC-MS system equipped with flame ionization detector (FID).

Other Notes

This product is now available as a certified reference solution. Please see CRM48483.
