General description
NeuN是一种RNA结合蛋白,属于进化上保守的Fox-1家族。它主要涉及RNA剪接。它仅存在于神经元细胞的细胞核中,但也存在于所有检验的脊椎动物的大多数CNS和PNS神经元细胞类型中。尽管NeuN蛋白的分布显然仅限于胎儿和成年大脑中的神经元核、核周和一些近端神经元过程。一些神经元在某些细胞的各个年龄段都无法识别NeuN。免疫组织化学可检测的NeuN蛋白首先出现在与神经元退出细胞周期和/或神经元终末分化开始相对应的发育时间点。免疫反应性出现在小鼠神经管中的E9.5附近,并在E12.5的整个发育中的神经系统中广泛存在。强烈的核染色表明核调节蛋白功能。但是,目前尚无关于NeuN蛋白抗原是否在远端细胞质中具有功能或在转运回细胞核之前仅在那里合成的证据。在免疫印迹上,从纯化的细胞核分离的蛋白质与全脑提取物之间没有发现差异。
