Gene Information

human ... IPO9(55705)
mouse ... Ipo9(226432)
rat ... Ipo9(304817)

General description

Importin 9 (IPO9) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 1q32.1. The encoded protein is a molecular transporter and chaperone and is a member of karyopherins super-family. IPO9 has a molecular weight of ~110kDa.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 90-105 of human Importin 9 conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse and rat.

Application

Anti-Importin 9 (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

Anti-Importin 9 (N-terminal) recognizes human Importin 9.
Importin 9 (IPO9) promotes transcriptional activity by actively regulating nuclear actin levels. The encoded protein facilitates transport of ribosomal proteins and core histones into the nucleus. Additionally, it acts as an import receptor for c-Jun. Elevated expression of Ipo9 decreased and knockdown of Ipo9 increased basal type I interferon (IFN)-ε expression.
Importin 9 is an import factor for many proteins, including the hepatocellular carcinoma associated protein, core histone H2B and the heat shock protein, HSP27.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
