B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain (UniProt: P11912; also known as Ig-alpha, MB-1 membrane glycoprotein, Membrane-bound immunoglobulin-associated protein, Surface IgM-associated protein) is encoded by the CD79A (also known as IGA, MB1) gene (Gene ID: 973) in human. CD79A is a single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a central role in B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling and is essential for B-cell development and function. BCR complex is composed of a membrane-bound immunoglobulin molecule noncovalently linked with CD79A and CD79B heterodimer acting as the signaling components of the BCR complex. CD79A contains an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM) within its cytoplasmic domain, which is phosphorylated upon antigen binding, initiating downstream signaling cascades. This phosphorylation facilitates the recruitment of Src-family kinases, such as spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk), leading to the activation of pathways critical for B-cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation. CD79A has emerged as a key player in pathological conditions, including B-cell malignancies such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL), where its expression influences tumor proliferation and central nervous system (CNS) infiltration. Quality Control Testing
Evaluated by Western Blotting in Raji cell lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected CD79A in Raji cell lysate.
Tested Applications
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected CD79A in Ramos and Daudi cell lysates.
Flow Cytometry Analysis: 0.1 µg from a representative lot detected CD79A in one million Ramos cells.
Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound with CD79A peptide with at least one million-fold (1,000,000X) higher affinity than with non-specific control peptide.
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected CD79A in human tonsil tissue sections.
Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.

Clone 2C16 is a ZooMAb® rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that detects CD79A. It targets an epitope within the C-terminal cytoplasmic domain.

Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.

0.3 mg/mL after reconstitution at 25 µL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
