HPLC Analysis of Huaijiao Wan Tablets at 260 nm and 280 nm on Purospher® STAR RP-18 Phenyl
CONDITIONS
sample preparation
Take appropriate amount of drug pills, cut into pieces, weigh exactly 0.25g small pills to a mortar, grind four times with total 40 mL 50% methanol aqueous solution. Transfer it to a 50-mL volumetric flask, sonicate (250w, 33kHZ) for 30 minutes, cool down, weigh, make up weight with 50% methanol solution. Shake well and filter.

The Huaijiao Wan is a mixture of six ingredients; Fructus Sophorae, Radix Sanguisorbae, Radix Scutellariae, Fructus Aurantii, Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Saposhnikoviae. The ChP monograph specify Sophoricoside, Naringin and Baicalin as markers for the Huaijiao Wan. Shown here is a 150x4.6 mm Purospher Star STAR Phenyl column with 5 μm particles which is an excellent choice for the analysis of Huaijiao Wan tablets.
